18th May 2020
Dear Parents,
I hope you and your families are keeping well andsafe. These are strange times we are living in and we are all doing our best to adjust.
Activities for all classes are uploaded  by class teachers and as always this is just a support for you.Do what works for you in your household.
The teachers are delighted with all the work that is being sent - projects, photos ,videos and voice recordings. Please contact us by e-mail if you have any difficulty accessing activities or uploading to Seesaw .

It was difficult for us all to hear the Taoiseach's announcement that the schools would be closed until September   We all miss the boys and girls and wish we could be back in Rashina working together.

Sixth class pupils are especially in our thoughts at this time.We know that it would be easy for you all not to continue with your school activities. You are correct in thinking (and perhaps saying!)that as you may not be returning to Rashina this term it seems pointless completing school work.
I would like to remind you of a saying we have in school that forms the basis of our work ethos
"You don't have to be the best....... but you do have to be YOUR best."
I encourage you all to continue engaging with school activities so that you can be your best as you look forward to going to secondary school.

Both Confirmation and Communion dates have now passed and we will update you as soon as we hear any new arrangements for children receiving the sacraments.
As of today teachers are allowed  go into the school building again so we will be preparing work packs and getting books to you. We hope to arrange  Literacy Lift Off  programme for Junior Infant,Senior Infant and First Class children. Pupils in some classes will also be able to access activities on the Nessy App from today.

However we also need to supply a bit of perspective. There is enough stress in the lives of parents and children (and teachers) without our school adding to it. With worries about health, jobs and family members the last thing we want is parents worrying about their child falling behind with school work.
When we get back we will all work together to get everything back on track.Just share love, laughter, calm and strength in your home.
No child is ahead or behind - they are all at home safe with you and that is all that matters.
                                    Take care of yourselves,
                                    Patricia Hennessy   087 2670382

First May 2020
Dear Parents,
Today, on the First of may we have the tradition of bringing flowers for Our May Alter.
As this is not possible this year, if you have any flowers in your garden and would like to take a picture of them, please send them to our email address teacherrashinans@gmail.com. We can then add them to our padlet page of the website. You can also try to add them to directly to padlet through the website page.

April 2020
Dear Parents,

I hope that everyone is remaining safe and well in these challenging times. Please let your children know that we are thinking of them and miss them .We really appreciate and thank all in our school community who are health care workers, volunteers helping the sick and all those working in essential services .
You can follow the suggestions for school work posted by teachers and while it is important that children make an effort to complete some of the work  we don't want to put undue pressure on parents or make them feel guilty.
You know best what you are able to do taking into account your circumstances. School work can be particularly challenging for parents with a number of children or  parents working from home or outside the home.We want you to enjoy this time with your children. If school work causes upset in your house then leave it for a while, get outside ,go for short walk etc.and come back to it at another time.
It is important that the children experience learning as a positive activity. Praise goes a long way! Balance is important so, with the good weather ,it is important that children play and exercise outdoors.
RTE Home School Hub and Cúla4Ar Scoil are curruculum based programmes that will keep children entertained and learning.
You may find an interview  by Dr Ronan Glynn  with RTE'S  new2day programme last week  useful when talking to your children about Covid 19.
Hoping that we all remain healthy and happy during this time off as we look forward to "back to school"
Take care and mind yourselves.
P Hennessy

We hope all is well for you and your families at this difficult time. The teachers have uploaded some work for your children. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have a query on teacherrashinans@gmail.com
Take Care
Kind Regards
